So I’ve only recently realized that I haven’t introduced the worlds cutest puppy to you guys yet, so here goes…
Her name is Olive and she truly is the worlds cutest breed, a miniature schnauzer.
We got Olive at ten weeks old and she was such a blessing from the get go, easy going and perfect in nature.
We had her on the best brand ( a very well known brand, which I will not mention here, because up until now I am still 99,9% sure that this was not the cause of the problem I am about to discuss).
One morning, when Olive woke up, I noticed her behavior was quite different. She seemed down and was scratching and biting at her thighs every now and then. My husband was laughing at me, because it got to the point where I thought that she might be missing her mom and dad…
As the day progressed so did the behavior, up until the point where Olive was scratching more than she was walking, scratching until she toppled over, scratching until her hair was falling out in huge chunks (which might I add was extremely unsettling because the schnauzer breed is known for hair that does not shed whatsoever).
I immediately jumped onto the google train, trying to figure out what it could possibly be and how to solve it, as it was now extremely late and all vets & shops were closed. Google summed her problem up to either something she ingested eg. food, or something she had come into contact with eg. bee sting, plant, etc.
I immediately assumed the latter. Olive has this habit of rolling around in the garden, tracking mud into the house, smelling like a mint bush.
Google said to give her allergex (half a pill) if we had it on hand, and so we did. She fell asleep for about an hour which was an extreme relief to my husband and I, because just before that she could not close her eyes for more than 30 seconds without crying and starting to scratch again.
However the allergex was just a VERY short term solution.
To say the least, this mom was awake the entire night all teary eyed at the idea of my baba in so much pain as I could hear her scratching and crying away.
The next morning my husband and I sat around waiting for the shops to open and were the first people in as soon as they did, when we found the holy grail….
REGAL PET HEALTH
We bought Olivia the Regal Skin Care Remedy, which is a sauce/oil that your pour over your dogs food and it fights any skin allergies your dog may have, a little goes such a long way and we still have some left in bottle a month or so later.
We also bought her the Regal Skin Healing Shampoo, which we are still using up until today to bath her with. It leaves her skin and hair silky soft and itch free. The best of this was that it healed Olives scratch wounds in a matter of two days (using only one wash).
Lastly, we bought the Regal Skin healing spray, which left her hair a little hard to the touch but that did disappear after a day or so.
Once we returned from the shop, we immediately put all of Olives bedding and toys in the wash. We then proceeded to give her a bath with the shampoo and afterwards we put the healing spray on her (loads of it). Straight after that, Olive cuddled on my legs whilst laying on the couch and fell asleep. NOTHING felt better than that moment, she slept for three hours straight and when she awoke, all she wanted to do was play and we could not have been happier at that very moment. Her tail was up again…. oh yes I forgot to mention that throughout the whole itchy scene, her tail was curved downwards in-between her legs.
That night we put her sauce over her food and she absolutely devoured it as though it was a treat to have had.
This range, was absolutely our hero that day. It truly changed my puppy in a matter of 30 minutes. Honestly we are SO grateful and would recommend this to ANY pup/dog mom or dad with an itchy pup, and after my search to find the solution, I noticed that this was a common concern for many dog owners.
Hope this can help someone else in future.
