As i’m sure most of you have heard by now, there is a “miracle” hair growth vitamin called Biotin….
After reading multiple reviews, watching multiple YouTube videos and researching the ins and outs of this miracle vitamin i decided to give it a go…. Only to find out that finding a decent dosage in South Africa was much more difficult than anticipated, finally however, i got my hands on the so called “wonder worker”
The brand i received was Swanson Biotin 5000mcg (5mg), 100 capsules for R250,00 (NOT BAD CONSIDERING THE BOTTLE LASTS JUST OVER 3 MONTHS)
My overall experience consisted of ups and downs, hair growth and break outs. I will be posting links to my YouTube videos of each months usage and results for those of you who are looking for the 5 minute low down.
Month 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3eneCiaGy0&list=UUSLQrPB4hanz8jL8_d5HkbA
So after the belief that my hair would grow 10 inches in one month, okay…. maybe one inch at least, disappointment surfaced when measuring time approached, my hair had grown about half an inch, and i’m sure most of you hair junkies would know that that is slap bang average, and nothing to ring home about….. not to mention the breakouts that i got from drinking these pills, however the blame can not only rest upon biotin but also the fact that I am extremely terrible when it comes to drinking water on a regular basis. Biotin does require you to drink A LOT more water when you are consuming it seen as it is a water soluble vitamin that requires water to work to its full potential.
due to my own err… i decided to carry on my journey and give it more time to prove me wrong….
month 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSTNb-f2O-4&index=3&list=UUSLQrPB4hanz8jL8_d5HkbA
By the end of month 2, after measuring my hair i was a tiny bit more pleased but still quite despondent as my hair had only grown about 3mm more than the previous month, however the breakouts were remarkably improved due to my not so perfect but better than before water consumption in month 2, as an extreme hair junky hopeful i decided that at least i could finish the bottle and continue the use for my final month, and so i did.
month 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf3Sj7_VEow&list=UUSLQrPB4hanz8jL8_d5HkbA&index=2
What an absolute turn around, as though only now had the Biotin greeted my system and became best buddies, the breakouts had vanished and the main was growing long and strong… in the third month my hair had grown a full inch, which is beyond strange for me (naturally my hair would grow almost a cm if that), in the pictures attached i had even had my hair cut in the third month, i was so happy with the growth that i was happy to shed few cm for the sake of healthy hair.
and not to mention that my nails grew so much so that i cut them on a weekly basis otherwise i could hardly manage my pen at varsity.
As you will see in the image i posted of the start and the end results you will see that my hair is so much healthier, the color even seems different without me putting a drop of dye to it, with regards to improving overall hair health i give this product 10/10
Biotin is ALMOST a miracle worker, i say this because i know that if your reading this you long for Rapunzel hair and you want it as in NOW, Biotin can help you get there but not in a day or a month, maybe a year. However if ankle length hair is not what your aiming for, but just healthy long hair Biotin is most certainly the product for you.
I have been contemplating whether to buy a new bottle, and i most likely will as soon as the budget allows for it.
I also want to say that i am in no way a healthcare practitioner and that i could never give you the go ahead to consume any form of pills, so make sure your doctor gives you the go ahead before you decide to start your own hair journey.
